We help farmers harvest their surplus crops to increase food security in Knox County.

Our volunteers work with local farmers, orchards, and backyard gardeners by collecting and distributing healthy local produce to food pantries and other food distribution sites. These efforts increase food security and decrease food waste.

Our Mission:

Gleaning produce to increase food security by harvesting surplus crops in Knox County

Our Vision:

Connecting Knox County farmers and neighbors in need with locally grown food

What We’ve Accomplished

In 2024, Knox County Gleaners:

  • LBS harvested – 4,982
  • Servings – 19,928
  • Value – $8,170.48
  • Farms – 9
  • Distribution Locations – 11
  • Volunteers – 40
  • Volunteer Hours – 321

Something to note about 2024. This was a transition year as some folks needed to step away from the KCG program. In order to continue the program the Come Spring FP absorbed the KCG and made them a program within the pantry. Because of the transition we did not glean as many farms this year…we hope to grow the program over the next few years with the support of the community and local farms.
